Keeping the Most Vulnerable "Close" and Connected in the Church Community
Many churches have been suddenly thrust into the modern age of ubiquitous video and live streaming. But what about congregations with the technically challenged. No one wants to leave the sick, the quarantined, those caught in a foreign country, the widow or the elderly feeling alone or neglected in these perilous times of deepening social distance. They need the spiritual nourishment from maintaining effective fellowship and connectivity with the church body.
One solution: Everybody has a telephone! There are many audio conferencing services available. Just dial the conference number, maybe there’s a short access code, and everybody’s connected! I’ve made a magicJack conference number available to local churches. It comes free with the service. I will post other low or no charge services here soon. Some are directly compatible with the www.MASSMEDIAMAKER.com collection of technologies and techniques.
For sermons, those that can’t watch by live streamed video can simply dial-in. Callers could share corporate prayer as part of the service. The pastor or leader has widely available options for microphones including a headset, earpiece or wired. I will post some creative and cost effective options here soon. Some churches may be using videoconferencing for their services. Many videoconferencing platforms provide an audio conferencing feature for those without Internet or equipment to join.
