Mass Media Motivates
Addressing some concerns of church service video
The primary Motivator for developing MMM technology is the ability for the Message to reach the lost in the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matt 28;16-20).
Some churches are reluctant to use video, especially live video. Within a couple months of MASS MEDIA MAKER conception the first church in the nation to adopt MMM technology used it for live streaming production of service (initially over a cellular connection!). Within weeks their service was being viewed live from countries within their mission field (Africa and the Philippines). This was a small congregation of a less than 100 attendees.
Consider the priorities of proclaiming the Gospel and the care of the sick, elderly and isolated.
Another concern is “They will just stay home and watch TV”. I understand the concern of temptation to laziness and apathy, but won't the Holy Spirit Motivate through The Message by Mass Media? (Romans 10:14...how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard...17...faith comes by hearing…) Our Mission is to reach the Masses with His Message (Matt 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…). It is up to God to change the heart. “We love because he First Loved us.” (1 John 4:19 ). Finally if the church provides recorded media in any form, what difference does live make. Provision of a recording is just a delayed live method.
An even smaller congregation of under 50 used the live message to reach Multiple sick, elderly and widows. A few months before she passed on, and elderly homebound widow (considered a grandmother to the congregation) commented “Really appreciate the improvements in service videos”. Consider the needs of those who long to be in fellowship but can not and the importance scripture places on our relationship with widows (James 1:27,Acts 6). Video might be likened to virtually visiting the church. We are after all "one in the Spirit". Though it can’t take the place of a personal visit, video brings the church to those with inability to come every Sunday. And remember those who have to travel often for work.
Some churches are concerned with video medium itself. Ironically, most of these churches already post audio. Mostly video is just a modern vehicle for audio, especially for local Community Access. What better way for the church reach the local community than through the provision that was put in place by federal legislation more than 40 years ago and paid for with up to 5% of the cable revenue! Consider that in many cases effectively 100% if the informational content is conveyed through audio portion of the video medium and made available to upwards of 90% of the community. Community Access religious content is typically and historically 20+%. Some communities even have their own exclusive faith channel. Additional studies and statistics are available by request.
MASS MEDIA MAKER is a convergence of technologies that compound to be extremely low cost, discrete, and operation can be taught in a matter of minutes.
